Shame. And Astro Boy.

I knew this day would come. The day when I shake off the shame of not blogging since Christmas. This blog is dusty, and I can really only blame myself. I got lazy. I got apathetic. I really lost the whole reason for blogging. I got a few hits, specifically the Pudding Pops article, which still remains my most read. I felt the need to write about things that would get me hits, rather than things that would make me happy. So I did, and that didn't happen, so I got tired of all of it.

But I've got the bite again. The drive to blog, to write about stupid shit that makes me happy. If it gets hits, cool, whatever. If it doesn't, at least I will have written about something I truly love, or at least like a little bit. The point is to keep writing, to keep doing what I love, what drives me. Either I do that, or my life has little purpose and I sit around watching Law & Order re-runs and eating hot Cheetos. I don't want that to be my life.

So, to make a long cliche short, I'm back. Hopefully blogging at least once a week, as much as three times a week. It's a goal. I even bought a white board to write it on and everything.

I feel like I should write about something to make this more of an article, so I'm gonna say a couple words on these Astro Boy movie toys.

I bought these a few months back at the worst Toys-R-Us in the world. I'd say more on that, but it deserves a whole article by itself. The clearance section of this TRU has always treated me right, and that is where I found these two gems, for the grand total of $1 a piece.

They're part of the marketing blitz of that 2009 CGI movie that I never saw. The merchandising for the film was immense, and I assume not very popular, as any TRU I go to is bound to have a few figures left over, left to rot under $2.50 tags. It's an unfair fate for toys that look so cool. I'm gonna stop myself before I go into a rant about forgotten playthings.

These figures, in particular, are a variation on the "vinyl collectable" toy theme, in that they don't vary from the theme at all. These are straight up vinyl figures, a few moving joints away from being classified as "statues". They've got an interesting body shape that's shared by all the figures in the line, but interesting is all the shape has going for it. They're extremely hard to get to stand, requiring a combination of arm bending, chewing gum and ritual sacrifice to not fall over. I can't tell you how many times 'ol Astro has taken a tumble behind my desk, into the abyss of wires and loose Cheetos. I eat a lot of Cheetos.

I don't really have an ending for this article, so I'm just going to end it. The end.
